The new cinematic trailer for Far Cry 3 gives us something we don’t see in video games too much. A normal protagonist, an everyman. In this age of video games, the protagonists are all usually bad-ass military dudes, super natural beings, or guys with superpowers. Not in Far Cry 3, a game that tries to keep the tone as realistic as possible. This time players will assume the role of Jason Brody, a tourist who has escaped kidnappers on an island and now searches for his missing girlfriend. Sure… not everything is 100% realistic, but the Far Cry series does a great job of incorporating incredible realism in their games. For example, Far Cry 2 had the most realistic fire animations ever. It’s not anything too special, but when you got a giant brush fire blazing in the middle of a firefight, it really sets itself apart from other first person shooters.
Far Cry 3 is set for a Sept. 6 release date.
